The finalists for the Early Innovation Award are:
Coulometrics
Dr. Edward Buiel’s company has pushed the pulsing advantage of ultrathin supercapacitors to produce the highest mobile power performance in the world today. The core electrode mixing and coating technology creates lower resistance than anything commercially available. The company has demonstrated fifty percent improvement in battery runtime under high energy drain conditions. Coulometrics’ 0.2 millimeter-thick supercapacitors are currently being evaluated by leading global smartphone and battery manufacturers.
Learning Blade
Sheila and Dane Boyington, founders of Thinking Media, have launched Learning Blade, an interactive web-based curriculum for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education in the nation’s middle schools. Students pursue missions to solve real-world problems that anticipate career pathways in an engaging game-based format that aligns with the widely accepted Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.
Sovee
Sovee’s cloud-based translation and video solutions are enabling communication without language barriers in the global marketplace.
