The Business Intelligence User Group of Chattanooga TN

This Business Intelligence User Group of Chattanooga TN was established to promote BI knowledge and collaboration within the community.  This group is open to all organizations.  Whether you are a programmer, manager, sales person, or even a student wanting to learn more about BI, everyone is welcome.  The format of this group will be to provide presentations on technologies used in the market as well as newer technologies entering the market.  We will also provide presentations from organizations discussing successful BI projects and what worked best to address challenges they faced. 

Our meetings will typically be held at the Business Development Center (BDC) – 100 Cherokee Blvd, Chattanooga TN 37405 on the third Thursday of every other month starting at either 11:30am for Lunch meetings and 5:30pm for Evening meetings.

Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2012 provide an extensive toolset for enterprise Business Intelligence visualization and analytics. Join CTS and Microsoft for lunch and a demonstration of data visualizations, analytic capabilities, and BI functionalities from various tools including MS PowerView, Performance Point Services, Excel Services, and Analysis Services.  CTS executive Matt Jones (LinkedIn Profile) will demonstrate how to view summary information and perform drill down and decision support activities to answer critical questions necessary to support business decisions. This session, designed for IT decision makers as well as business managers, will show how you can leverage tools you already own to implement a self-service delivery model for BI analytics.


Matt Jones –   VP Technology Innovation – CTS


Over the span of 11 years at CTS, Matt Jones has enjoyed multiple leadership roles that have allowed him to gain vast knowledge in technology and business.

Mr. Jones serves as the Vice President of CTS’ Technology Services Group and is personally responsible for the performance and delivery of all consulting and advisory services. He is responsible for the company’s growing Management Consulting service line as well as the development of the company’s standards, methodologies, and metrics. Additionally, he is responsible for the firm’s strategic outsourcing and consulting services.

Before moving into senior management at CTS, Mr. Jones amassed more than ten years of design and implementation experience in distributed systems for mainframe, Windows, and UNIX platforms. He also gained significant experience in accounting information systems.

To date, Mr. Jones has completed more than 100 engagements that assisted customers in using technology to gain business value. The different types of engagements included process analysis and improvement, product selections, IT outsourcing assessment and planning, custom solution development, solution scoping, requirements engineering, software engineering methodology consulting, and IT strategic planning.

Prior to joining CTS, Mr. Jones worked as a software engineer at Southern Progress Corporation, a subsidiary of Time-Warner, Inc. He also served as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business and the School of Natural Science and Mathematics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Mr. Jones received a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer and holds the ITIL Foundation
